How to find your Target Audience

Respond to these demographics to the best of your ability. If you want to get fancy, you can look at your website or social media site’s statistics to cross reference or be enlightened.

  • Age

  • Gender

  • Income level

  • Buying habits

  • Occupation or industry

  • Marital status

  • Family status (children/no children)

  • Geographic location

  • Ethnic group

  • Political affiliations or leanings

  • Hobbies and interests

You may find that you have a few answers of your target audience. Some people create individual character personas.

Some more defining questions

To better find and connect to your audience online and in person

  • What is “cool” to these people?

  • What impresses them?

  • How do they interact?

  • Do they use slang or casual language?

  • Do they want “just the facts”?

  • What are they missing?

  • What are their problems?

  • What is most important to them?

  • Where do they hang out (online and in the real world)

  • What activities do they like?

  • Are they readers? Are they more visual?
