Taking the Myers-Briggs test (again)
Have you ever taken the Myers-Briggs test?
I've taken a few over the years and I often forget what my actual letters are (I'm sure that's a part of my personality type!). I like personality tests like any other self-absorbed person does and this one is pretty good. I know I've changed slightly as I've gotten older, maybe a little more seasoned and definitely less insecure about certain things. One interesting change is that I used to be typed as an introvert, and now I'm typed as an extrovert but I think that's because I'm hanging around more interesting people now. Who wouldn't be energized by a table full of idea-generating creative people?
Discover something new about you
Teri, currently a fine art painter, took the test recently and read some of the description to us in a meeting. I was amazed at how acurately her description fit ME. Mostly, I was delighted and relieved to find out that my perception of being a misfit in the world was wrong. I'm a type! And there are other people in my type too!
I am an ENFP, which, in a nutshell is this:
"ENFPs are people-centered creators with a focus on possibilities and a contagious enthusiasm for new ideas, people and activities. Energetic, warm, and passionate, ENFPs love to help other people explore their creative potential." (Totally!) "They are drawn to art because of its ability to express inventive ideas and create a deeper understanding of human experience." (Yes!!)
An ENFP is most successful at work when:
Since I'm always trying to figure out what my problems with work are. This was especially interesting to read.
- using their creativity to express themselves and benefit others (yes)
- choosing careers that allow them to pursue ideals of personal growth and artistic expression (yes)
- dislike routine work and want a variety of tasks and challenges (preach it!!)
- prefer to set their own schedule and chafe when saddled with excessive regulations or mundane details (oh my gosh, YES!!)
Do you think we creatives might all have the same types?
I was wondering if we had the same or at least some common types within the Myers-Briggs testing. I know that some of you are probably more structured than I am. Some are more analytical too. But I'm really curious now!
Will you take the test and tell me what you are?
I took a few of the free online versions of the Myers-Briggs tests and like this one the best. It only takes a few minutes, so if you do take it, please email me your type and I'll compile it into a chart so we can see where we are similar and where we differ.
